Readers of Conde Nast Traveler U.S. edition voted five Shangri-La luxury hotels onto the 2010 Gold List. Both lists were published in the January 2010 issues. Both magazines lists included a number of properties previously featured in Elite Traveler's 101 Top Suites lists as well Top Suites of Hong Kong, Top Suites of Bangkok, Top Suites of Beijing, Top Suites of Sydney, Top Suites of Shanghai and Top Suites of Singapore. The T+L 500 includes the 500 best hotels in the world as determined by a survey of the magazine's readers. Shangri-La was awarded the number one spot in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Malaysia, Taiwan and the Philippines. The 14 Shangri- La hotels and resorts on the T+L 500 list are:

Shanghai beats Hong Kong hotels on Travel and Leisure top 500 list - CNNGo.com Posted: 10 Jan 2010 09:59 PM PST Eight Hong Kong hotels made it onto T+L 500 World's Best Hotels 2010. Shanghai got 10 hotels onto the list. We Hong Kongers feel kinda dissed, but we know that the hype around everything related to Shanghai tourism probably has to do with the World Expo in Shanghai this year, so we'll let them have their moment in the spotlight. Only until October 31, that is (expo end date). After that, we want more attention to be paid on the impressive leading hotels in Hong Kong. Such as boutique hotels like The Upper House. In fact, not a single boutique Hong Kong hotel made it onto the list. It's hard to compete with the (predictable) list of big brandname Hong Kong hotels: 1. This savings period is sometimes called the "shoulder season." Travelers enjoy cheaper prices and, usually, fewer crowds. Travel and Leisure Magazine provided advice on the best deals. January is a good time to visit Florida, according to the magazine, because beaches tend to be emptier and hotels offer discounts. March is a good time to visit Mexico and other destinations in South America. "Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is a fabulous place to travel to in March. This is because it's just after carnival and you're going to find hotel rates that are about 60% off the average rate," said April means savings in the Caribbean and many European cities.
