Broker Tips: BSkyB, British Airways and Ryanair - IBTimes

"British Airways has underperformed the other european airlines by 11 pct, the FTSE 100 19 pct and the US airlines 47 pct...owing to concerns about pensions and strikes" Nomura analyst, Andrew Evans said.

"As a result we believe the market has overlooked the single most important development for BA coming out of a downturn - the improvement in long-haul premium volumes" he said.

Andrew Evans reckons these volumes account for 42 pct of BA's passenger revenues, "Premium Volumes on long-haul routes are rising,,,as is pricing" he said, putting the stock on Buy since 27 January with a price target of 290p.

The FTSE Travel and Leisure sector increased by 0.29 pct by 1249 GMT making relatively minor gains compared with other sectors on the indices.

The broker also gave its views on low-end rival, Ryanair expected to give a Q3 earnings on 1st February.

"The recent conference call suggested an opporunity for a small upgrade to guidance" said Andrew putting a target price of 6.00 EUR on the budget airline.

"Our Buy case is predicated on rising yields from next year onwards, recovering from significant falls of the past two years." he concluded.

The broker also had this statement on BSkyB who announced 10 pct revenues increase this week:

"It seems the market has focused again on the short-term downgrade due to HDTV acceleration without paying too much attention to longer-term value creation, new product introduction or strategic positioning" said Nomura's Matthew Walker.
