As part of the U.S.-based Travel + Leisure magazine's annual "World's Best" survey, readers of the publication were asked to pick the best hotels that met the highest standards of convenience, service and comfort as a business traveler. The number two Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel was Taiwan's only business hotel to be selected among the world's top 20 this year.

Ranked first by the readers was the Palacio Duhau — Park Hyatt in Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina. Third was the St. Regis in Shanghai, China. Shanghai's Pudong Shangri-La was ranked number 12.

Hong Kong's Four Seasons Hotel and Mandarin Oriental, Eliot Hotel in Boston, and Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas also made top ten.

The survey's participants were provided with a list of services as the criteria in making their choices, based on the most important requirements of business travelers, which includes a central location, efficient check-in and check-out and reliable, high-quality technology. Other criteria, such as personalized but not intrusive service and reasonable room rates, helped readers and frequent travelers select their preferred business hotel.

Arnie Rusinek, vice president for international operations at Teknion and a frequent traveler was cited in the magazine as saying, that the best business hotel understands exactly what customers need from the minute they step in the door.

Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel comprises about 370 luxury guest rooms and over 50 suites. The hotel is decorated with a style of a blend of the East and West.

The hotel was also ranked number 89 among the world's top 100 hotels in August this year by Travel + Leisure magazine.

Shangri-La hotels are located worldwide, including Australia, Canada, Japan, Thailand and Hong Kong. Over 40 projects are currently under development in several countries, such as the United States and the United Kingdom.

Travel + Leisure, a brand of the American Express Publishing, is a leading travel magazine in North America with a worldwide readership of 5 million.
